Hi - looking at your 821 photo of Griffin - it very much looks like our 801 entry photo - a couple of the guys are very recognisable to me!!

I was in 813 entry in the September. I loved my time at Fishguard, so much so I was back-classed, lol.
Lots of happy memories of this place and wish I'd stayed in touch with some of the guys.

I have written a history of Artificers from 1868-2010 which is now available from Troubador Publisging, I hope it will be of interest to some of you.

Great to see all these old photos of Fisgard. I was part of 801 entry into Spickernell, but left in the summer of 1981 after I was selected for MEA instead of my preferred WEA. Ended up emigrating and doing marine SAR for 10 years on the West Coast of Canada instead! Thanks for reminding me of Spike. He-she used to sit on my shoulder whilst I was reading mail from home.

I was part of 813 entry in Spickernell division, although, due to ill health I only lasted until March 1982. I just wish things had been different.

This just brought back some memories, I have "passed a lot of water" since the Bennett 821 Entry photo. I never knew I was so good looking back then.

Hi. It was great looking through your site and all the photos. Brought back lots of memories and I recognized lots of faces. I was an instructor at Fisgard from May 1982 to September 1983. The photo of me "on the pull" includes a Wren who worked in the kitchen at Fisgard. Happy days!

Martin, great to hear from you and many thanks for visiting our website.
Although nicknamed Spike, the division was called Spickernell, named after Rear Admiral Derek Spickernell (feel free to Google him). This spelling is backed up by the programmes and Fisgard magazines from the time that can be viewed on our documents page.

I joined in September '81 and was assigned to Spikernell division (shame the website spells this incorrectly).
I only managed to last until March '82 after having severe Bronchitis due to the boiler on West side breaking down in the midst of Winter. I often look back on my time, and wish things had been different and I had been able to complete my full training at Fisgard.
Parade ground pillow fights were memories not to be forgotten.
